MIMC at MAICSA Conference 2025

On 23 and 24 Sept 2025, the Malaysian International Mediation Centre (“MIMC”) proudly participated in the MAICSA Conference 2025 at the Sime Darby Convention Centre.

Our booth welcomed delegates, professionals and industry leaders interested in learning how mediation provides effective, practical and collaborative solutions to resolve disputes.  Murshidah Mustafa, Secretary of the Malaysian Bar, was also present to promote MIMC and its services in advancing alternative dispute resolution in Malaysia.

Through engaging conversations and informative materials, we highlighted how MIMC plays a vital role in supporting businesses, organisations and individuals to achieve win–win solutions.

 A heartfelt thank you to everyone who visited our booth and supported our mission to strengthen a culture of peaceful and sustainable dispute resolution in Malaysia and beyond.


A courtesy visit and held a discussion with The Honourable Justice Tan Sri Datuk Nallini Pathmanathan and The Honourable Justice Dato’ Lim Chong Fong

On 18 Sept 2025, representatives of the Malaysian Bar and Malaysian International Mediation Centre (“MIMC”) paid a courtesy visit and held a discussion with The Honourable Justice Tan Sri Datuk Nallini Pathmanathan and The Honourable Justice Dato’ Lim Chong Fong.

The meeting explored the following:

(1) Introduction of the MIMC — its role, objectives and how it can support the Judiciary through training, structured participation in mediation processes and a potential rota system;
 
(2) A proposed pre-trial mediation framework including fee structures and cost considerations;
 
(3) Opportunities for specialised mediation services;
 
(4) Discussion on a new mediation scheme under Rang Undang-Undang Bantuan Guaman dan Pembelaan Awam 2025 (Bab 5, seksyen 43–51); and
 
(5) Possible collaborations to enhance case disposal through mediation.
 
 
The Malaysian Bar was represented by:
 
(1) Mohamad Ezri Abdul Wahab, President, Malaysian Bar;
(2) Murshidah Mustafa, Secretary, Malaysian Bar; Chairperson, Bar Council Mediation Committee; and
(3) Cheah Poh Loon, Co-Deputy Chairperson, Bar Council Mediation Committee.
 
This engagement reflects the Malaysian Bar and MIMC’s continued commitment to strengthening collaboration with the Judiciary and promoting mediation as an effective tool for dispute resolution.

Signing of the Memorandum of Understanding (“MoU”) between the Malaysian Bar and the China Council for the Promotion of International Trade (“CCPIT”)

On 29 Nov 2024, the President of the Malaysian Bar, Mohamad Ezri Abdul Wahab led a delegation to attend the signing of the Memorandum of Understanding (“MoU”) between the Malaysian Bar and the China Council for the Promotion of International Trade (“CCPIT”) at Beijing, China.  The delegation consisted of the Secretary of the Malaysian Bar, Murshidah Mustafa; Chairperson of the Bar Council Mediation Committee, Abdul Fareed Abdul Gafoor; and Jeff Leong Pak Lim, member of the Bar Council Mediation Committee.

Mohamad Ezri Abdul Wahab also delivered a speech for the Dialogue on Intellectual Property and Mediation in the Construction Industry, which took place prior to the signing of the MoU.  Upon the signing of the MoU, the delegation paid a visit to the Beijing Lawyers Association and the China Law Society.

 


Launch of Malaysian International Mediation Centre (MIMC)

15 January 2024 | Wisma Badan Peguam Malaysia, Kuala Lumpur

The Malaysian International Mediation Centre (“MIMC”) (previously known as the Malaysian Mediation Centre, (“MMC”)) was officially launched by the Chief Justice of Malaysia, YAA Tun Tengku Maimun Tuan Mat alongside the President of the Malaysian Bar, Karen Cheah Yee Lynn, on 15 Jan 2024 at the Raja Aziz Addruse Auditorium, Wisma Badan Peguam Malaysia.  The Honourable Justice Surya Kant, Judge of the Supreme Court of India, was also present to deliver his keynote address at the event.  YAA Tun Tengku Maimun also received a token of gratitude from the Honourable Justice Surya Kant.  Senior trainers and trainers who have assisted with training and coaching throughout the MMC tenure also received appreciation awards presented by YAA Tun Tengku Maimun. 

The MIMC was officiated by way of balloon popping, followed by ribbon cutting and signing of a plaque in the MIMC premises located at Wisma Badan Peguam Malaysia.
